pretzel, pretzel

January 12, 2011

Over Christmas break Barber and I were generally running around meeting friends and family, eating with someone or traveling to the next gathering. One of my favorite days — we had no where to go and no one to meet — was spent making homemade pretzels! Our friend Jake happened to be on a pretzel kick and we spent almost an entire day experimenting and taste-testing. (And by ‘we’ I mean Jake and I… Barber mostly played with a toy train set.) :)

This is only about a third of all the ones we made. I was surprised at how simple they were to make…. You just need a little bit of time because the dough has to rise. We followed Alton Brown’s dough recipe and then took liberties with the rest…

We stuffed with a variety of things; cheese, ham and cheese, chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate, just peanut butter, marshmellows and crushed oreos. You’ll also notice that we also experimented with different shapes. :)

Just practicing for our future traveling pretzel truck.

I’d like to make an investment and buy in to this traveling pretzel truck.
