pack your bags – we’ve got summah plans!

March 30, 2011

Some of you may remember how I gloriously spent last summer gallivanting around KCMO, fixing up old houses, attending/planning weddings and making a quick trip to NYC.

Barberboyfriend reminded me recently that I made a comment along the lines of – “I will never spend another summer like this…”

I don’t exactly remember this per se but let me assure you I did not mean it negatively. I LOVED and thoroughly enjoyed my laid back adventures, but other than the quick NYC stint I wasn’t really, ahem, “working.” Those of you who know me are quite aware that I’ve actually never had a “real” job. (Bahaha — who needs one I say!).

I feel like I’m losing you to the ramble…. So I’ll get to the point. I decided to test the waters of this whole grown up, grad school situation and I went out and got myself not one, but TWO summer jobs (technically internships I suppose). That’s right friends….

For the first half of the summer I’ll be working around the interwebs as the Communications and Marketing Specialist for Garden of the God’s Gourmet in Colorado Springs! I’m so so excited to join this organization — they cater high end corporate events and weddings, have a brick and mortar kitchen where they host chef dinners and cooking lessons and are very involved in local markets. I’m all about healthy, local food and am looking forward to getting started. (Plus – CO Springs?! Yes, please!)

For the second half of my summer I’ll be a “young person working for progressive change” as the Online Communications intern for Campus Progress, a sector of the Center for American Progress in D.C.! Wahoo. I love, love D.C. and could not be more excited to get involved with this organization.

Now that you’re well acquainted with the logos of my respective organizations (I had to break up the words somehow!!) we can get to the real business!

1. Who would like to sublet my classy, little, Tallahassee apt. this summer?! Anyone? :) Seriously, if you’re interested contact me at .

2. Anyone know anyone who needs a subletter/roommate in D.C. this summer?! I’ll need housing for about two months… Mid June to early August. Please and thank you!

These two jobs along with a few trips to Missouri for important happenings pretty much sums up my summer months. First though, I’ve got a *few* (read: A LOT) things to finish up around the old school before I can head out.

Here we go.

Katie, I’m constantly getting Washington D.C. housing emails through the Mizzou Mafia j-school email thing. People will have internships, etc, and they’ll either be looking to sublease too or someone will say “hey, I have an apt to sublease if anyone needs one” etc…. so I’ll keep my eyes out for that now. Those usually go in the trash haha.

Yay! Lyndsey that would be awesome! Thank you so much! I have been contacting everyone and anyone I know (and some that I don’t!) haha.

Oh my gosh so exciting! Can we please do some runs together? You will love CO in the summer! :)
