Dear Lady Jane

July 7, 2011

Dear Lady Jane,

I hear you might have had a sorta tough life up to this point. I mean it’s not very nice for someone to get you spayed and then send you back out in to the wild before your little incision is even healed. I heard you were pretty hungry when you showed up at JohnBoy’s apartment all meowy and cute.

Now he’s a pretty nice boy so it’s no surprise that he took you in a fed you and bought you a few toys and made sure you got a rabies shot. But now he’s getting kind of attached so even though you sometimes like to go outside for a few minutes you have to promise to always come back.

But here’s the thing little LJ, we already have a kitten. Her name is Nala and she is kinda great. I mean Johnny B and I have been known to check out the adoptable kittens on a Saturday morning at the pet store…. but we’ve never brought one home because we already had the best kitten ever and she doesn’t really play well with others. Perhaps the reason we never got another one was just because we were waiting for you though.

Nala is on vacation at her grand-kitten-parents house this summer but she’ll be back in a few weeks. Whenever you two meet you’re going to have to play nicely. I know that you grew up on the street and you even had some kittens of your own but you’re going to have to learn to like Nalabear. I hear  that you growl at the other cats on TV….. I’m not going to lie that makes me a little nervous.

I’m willing to give you a chance though. You’re awfully cute and it seems that JohnHenry has spent a small fortune to take care of your fleas, your sneezes and your weepy eyes. But you’re feeling pretty good these days and I hear you’re really cuddly and I’ve received a lot cute pictures of you.

When you and Nala become bff’s she will teach you how to sit for treats and she’ll let you know all the rules like not getting on the table or scratching at the bed.

I can’t wait to meet you little LJ. Hopefully (hopefully!!) you’ll like living in Tallahassee with your new family and your new big sister.

Katie B.

Lord help us; we’re, at least for the time being, a two cat family.

I just died of kitten cuteness! I’m sure they will learn to love each other. :)

I don’t really know how I feel about this post. It’s like I don’t even know who you are anymore. Sure, one kitten (who thankfully DID NOT turn out to be a soul-sucking, manipulative feline, like most cats are) is understandable…..but, two? Please please PLEASE don’t turn in to a cat lady. That’s all I ask. And also don’t ask me to cat sit. Because that’s where I draw the line.

    A concerned friend

Ahaha! I love both of these comments.

And Paige, didn’t you know? If Nala and LJ don’t become friends you get to adopt LJ!

I forgot to mention that I won’t be escorting Nala down the aisle in a red wagon on your wedding day, either.
