Cold Weather Camping

November 8, 2011

Cold weather camping in Florida means that the temperature only gets about as low as 50 degrees. Soooo…. it’s perfect.

As a last hurrah before the end of the semester really owns our lives we decided to go camping. We camped in the state park on St. George Island. St. George is a cute little island with beautiful beaches about 2 hours Southwest of Tallahassee. The campsite was way nice with bathrooms and water pumps at every site. (Read: not primitive camping).

We stopped in Apalachicola on the way down and had oysters; Christie, Barber and I had a ridiculous time pitching the oldest tent I’ve ever seen; we made foil packs, eggs and sausage and soup over the campfire; we went on a “hike” to the beach; we checked out the Apalachicola Seafood Festival and ate more oysters; we drank the last of Barber’s Autumn Ale; six of us and one dog slept in a tent; and we had a great time.
