Mr. & Mrs. Barber

June 12, 2012

I’ve been trying to think of fun ways to start this post…. Something clever and funny. Or something that really does justice to the amount of fun and love that was had and shared But really I’m stumped.

I think it’s best to just get to the point. Two of our best friends from Tallahassee, Kyle (no relation to John Barber) and Karyn, got married. And it. Was. Awesome.

I met Karyn in my Gender Communication course right after Kyle proposed (Fall 2010). One night soon after Karn invited me to drink margaritas and really we’ve been friends ever since. Eventually I became friends with Kyle as well… then John moved to Tallahassee and the boys became bffs who watched sports and drank beer together. The culmination of a year and a half of tailgates, girls nights, a camping trip, happy hours, games nights and fun was a super (like super) fun wedding. The wedding was literally on our last Saturday in Tally ever. (How nice of them to throw a wedding as our “going away” party right?!)

I had to steal this photo from facebook because it is so quintessentially Karyn and Kyle with the FSU backdrop.

The ceremony was at Maclay Gardens in Tallahassee. It was a beautiful setting with a little reflecting pool in the background, a brick wall archway for Karyn to walk out of and for free they threw in sunny, 90 degree weather! :)

Sort of accidentally, Kate, Jess, Christie and I all went with a salmon/pink color scheme. We thought it was funny.

There were so many fun details that Karyn and Kyle thought of for the reception. The “I SPY” notecards everyone received at their place setting and the chalkboard thought bubbles (LOVED the chalkboard thought bubbles!) for writing fun notes and taking photos are two examples.

And now for my two favorite photos of the night (although the professional photos haven’t come out yet… so this is as of today).

One – Karyn and Kyle leaving the wedding amidst bubbles. I just love it.

Two – this photo taken by someone (with my camera; who?!) at Clyde’s after the wedding. It was probably 1:30 a.m. in this photo and everyone is still just having the time of their lives. The girl in navy on the left is the maid of honor. That’s John and yours truly getting jiggy in the center. Far right is Karyn and Kyle booty dancing and Christie just laughing at everyone. This is perfect.

I’m so, so happy we got to attend the wedding (and all the weekend’s festivities). It was such a fun celebration of Karyn and Kyle and we got to enjoy it with all the friends we made while living in Tallahassee.

Miss you guys! I can’t wait to see all “real pictures!”

*This post is part of a series of prescheduled posts that are recapping things that went on throughout April and May (when I was neglecting the blog). I’m currently “working” (hiking and biking) in the Tetons and New England.
